The Weeknd saw the Persona 6 announcement and played Persona 4 Revival before any of us

After years of theories, leaks, and endless waiting, Atlus finally announced Persona 6 to the world at Summer Game Fest. That is to say the world except for singer and noted video game lover The Weeknd.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on June 8, The Weeknd revealed that he got a sneak peak at the Persona 6 reveal "a while back." The post is accompanied by four photos, none of which show anything about the highly anticipated JRPG we didn't see much of in the short teaser that appeared at Summer Game Fest.

The photos do show The Weeknd playing a build of Persona 4 Revival, which announced a February 2027 release date at Summer Game Fest as well. It looks like he got to at least play through part of Yukiko's Castle, the first real dungeon in the game.

If you are wondering why in the world The Weeknd of all people got an early look at these titles you wouldn't be alone, though it's worth noting the singer has been a vocal lover of video games and constantly rubs shoulders with developers whenever he gets the chance. In the past that has included posting photos with the likes of Nier creator Yoko Taro and Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki.

His relationship with the Persona series has also been well documented, perhaps most famously when he posted about fumbling the hot goth doctor Tae Takemi after putting over 90 hours into Persona 5. If we are lucky we will all be able to follow along with him fumbling his romance option of choice in Persona 4 Revival when the game releases next year.

The Persona series has sold 30 million copies, and an absurd chunk of that is from Persona 5.
