The Week Ahead (Nov. 17–23): Li’s Diplomatic Tour, Saudi Crown Prince to Meet Trump

Nov. 17 - 23: Chinese premier heads to Moscow, Johannesburg, and Lusaka

Premier Li Qiang will attend the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in Moscow from Nov. 17 to 18. He will then pay an official visit to Zambia from Nov. 19 to 20 before attending the 20th G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, from Nov. 21 to 23.

Nov. 17 – 22: WHO global tobacco control conference to be held

The 11th session of the Conference of the Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from Nov. 17 to 22.

Nov. 17: China to issue sovereign bonds in Luxembourg 

China’s Ministry of Finance will issue up to 4 billion euros ($4.6 billion) in sovereign bonds in Luxembourg during the week of Nov. 17. Further details will be announced before the issuance.

Nov. 17: Shenzhen-listed CNGR to debut in Hong Kong

Shenzhen-listed battery materials producer CNGR Advanced Material Co. Ltd. is expected to list its H-shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Nov. 17. The company plans to issue 104 million shares at an indicative price range of HK$34 to HK$37.8 ($4.37 to $4.86) per share.

Nov. 18: Saudi crown prince to meet Trump

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is set to visit the U.S. for a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House. The visit follows a U.S. agreement in May to sell Saudi Arabia a weapons package valued at nearly $142 billion.

Nov. 19 - 21: EU-China trade fair in Chengdu

The 18th EU-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair will be held in Chengdu from Nov. 19 to 21 with the theme “Mutual Trust and Connectivity for Shared Win-Win.”

Nov. 21 – 30: Guangzhou auto show

The 23rd Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition will open and run through Nov. 30. The event will feature 1,085 vehicles, including 629 new-energy vehicles and 93 world premiere models.

Nov. 22 – 23: G20 summit to convene in South Africa

The 20th G20 summit will take place in Johannesburg from Nov. 22 to 23. South Africa has been serving as the G20 rotating presidency since Dec. 1, 2024, under the theme “Unity, Equality, and Sustainability.”
