The next episode of The Walking Dead places the characters in a situation they are all too familiar with.
Following the latest instalment of the zombie drama, which fans are angry about due to the flippant way it killed off a cult favourite character, it seems – once again – war is coming.
Lydia’s failure to kill her mother, Alpha (Samantha Morton), is coming back to haunt Daryl (Norman Reedus) and the rest of the heroes based at Hilltop, who are isolated from Alexandria.
As Alpha and her Whisperers get nearer, the Hilltop army is divided on whether they should fight back or flee.
How Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan – officially an Alpha follower – will factor into proceedings remains to be seen, but fans of the comics are keeping their fingers crossed for the inclusion of some pretty game-changing scenes.
Next week’s episode, titled “Morning Star”, will also mark the first appearance of Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) following the suspected death of girlfriend Magna (Nadia Hilka) and Connie (Lauren Ridloff) in last week’s midseason premiere.
Other characters we’ll be seeing for the first time since the show returned from its midseason break are Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Eugene (Josh McDermitt).
The synopsis teases “complications” with the latter’s communication with Stephanie, the mysterious character he was seen speaking to over the walkie talkies in the first part of season 10.
The Walking Dead contiues every Sunday in the US on AMC and the following day in the UK on FOX and NOW TV.
