The Walking Dead actor Chandler Riggs suffering memory loss after horse-riding accident

The Walking Dead actor Chandler Riggs is experiencing memory loss after falling from a horse.

Riggs, who played Carl Grimes in the AMC drama, revealed the news on social media, where he told his fans: “[I’m] trying to get my mind back on track.”

The 20-year-old’s mother, Gina, said Riggs suffered a “bad concussion” after being thrown from the horse on 23 November, despite wearing a helmet.

Riggs said he’s “forgetting a thing or two from time to time”, including answers to questions he’s just been told.

“It’s so weird hearing about what I was saying and doing after [the accident] happened,” he wrote. “For hours, I had no idea what year it was, how I got there, what happened, etc and I kept asking the same questions over and over again just to immediately forget the answer.”

On Instagram, Riggs’s mother wrote: “Thankfully, he’s going to be ok and thankfully I’m here with him,. He was thrown off of his horse yesterday afternoon. Thank goodness he was wearing a helmet. He has a pretty bad concussion and is in a lot of pain but no broken bones.”

Riggs was written out of The Walking Dead in season eight's ninth episode, which was broadcast in 2018.

At the time, he called the twist “devastating”, adding that he “never expected” his character would be killed off.

The Walking Dead‘s 10th season resumes in the US on 23 February and the following evening in the UK on FOX and NOW TV.
