The Unexpected Superteam Emerging in Football Manager 26

Every Football Manager release seems to have a couple of clubs that defy expectations, becoming juggernauts in saves everywhere. Sometimes these teams are so strong that player intent doesn’t even matter. In Football Manager 26, one of these teams appears to be Tottenham Hotspur.

A post on the r/footballmanagergames subreddit today sparked a wave of engagement among players after one user shared their feelings on Spurs. “They signed Savinho and have been mad since my second season,” the user wrote. “Top Goalscorer – Matthys Tel. Top Assists – Dejan Kulusevski. Highest Average Rating – Savinho.” Spurs players in the game are very physical, which is what fans believe helps them bend the match engine.

A Perfect Storm Of Talent And Potential

In the Unity-powered FM26, Tottenham Hotspur’s squad is practically designed for dominance. The team boasts a fantastic blend of young, dynamic talents, including Matthys Tel, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, and Mikey Moore (who is on loan at Rangers). They also have some established stars like Dejan Kulusevski, Destiny Udogie, and Micky van de Ven. This dynamic creates a strong foundation that can explode into an elite team within two or three seasons.

One Reddit user aptly put it:

“We have a bunch of unpolished wonderkids. Luka Vuskovic, Tel, Bergvall, Archie Gray, Odobert, Mikey Moore, Luca Williams-Barnett. Besides, our core players are quite young. Kulu, Udogie, and Van De Ven. All these players might have reached their potential ability in the game.”

Even players who don’t play with the Spurs have noticed the trend. Simulation saves consistently show them climbing to the top of the Premier League table by 2027-28. The team boasts the best attack and some of the highest-rated players in the game in these simulations.

All of this comes as a big surprise because if you know anything about the Spurs in real life, their ambitions are often derailed by inconsistency and managerial decisions. However, Football Manager 26 tends to be a bit more data-driven, and it rewards quality that Spurs already possess: youth, balance, and high potential. For instance, in FM26, Kulusevski’s attributes translate perfectly into the new match engine, which favors wide play, direct dribbling, and high physicality. Even defenders such as Van De Ven and Udogie tend to shine here.

In other words, FM26 seems to be the perfect world for Tottenham. It’s a recurring theme in real life that the Spurs are better on paper than in real life, and in a simulator like Football Manager 26, they’re an unexpected superteam.
