The two Welsh towns in the top trending holiday destinations list

With its rugged coastline, gorgeous countryside and stunning mountain views, of course Wales is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday. But two Welsh locations in particular have been named as top trending destinations for 2023, and we can understand why holidaymakers are heading there.

Research conducted by HomeToGo found New Quay in Ceredigion and Pwllheli in Gwynedd had been ranked in the top ten list for UK trending destinations. There has been an 80% increase in search for holidays in New Quay and a 39% increase in search for holidays in Pwllheli.

New Quay is a picturesque seaside town on the Cardigan Bay coast of west Wales. Its golden sandy beaches and sheltered harbour make New Quay a delight to visit at any time of year. You can keep up to date with the latest What's On news by signing up to the newsletter here.

The town was once a flourishing shipbuilding centre and fishing port. Today, small local fishing and pleasure craft still come and go in the sheltered bay. New Quay’s beaches extend in a golden arc around the bay and are ideal for relaxing and strolling by the sea.

Pwllheli is a market town and community on the Llyn Peninsula in Gwynedd, north-western Wales. Known as the unofficial capital of the Llyn Peninsula, you can enjoy open-air markets and the town is full of character with its narrow streets which have many independent shops, boutiques, traditional pubs, cafes and restaurants, as well as award-winning fish and chips, traditional Welsh ice-cream and seaside rock.

The harbour has a long history as wines from the continent were imported through here and the coast was a haven for smugglers and pirates. Pwllheli's beaches are mainly south facing and have been awarded the prestigious European Blue Flag Award, while Pwllheli Marina is thought to be one of the best in Britain and has some 400 berths.
