The try that's just been voted rugby's best of the decade

This is the try that has been voted the best rugby has seen in the past decade.

Jamie Heaslip's score against Italy in the 2016 Six Nations scooped the men's award at the 2020 World Rugby awards.

The competition saw each of the annual best try try winners of the past 10 years pitted against each other, with a public vote deciding the winner.

Heaslip put the finishing touches to a scintillating team move that started deep in Irish territory against the Italians. Simon Zebo, Jared Payne, Johnny Sexton and Andrew Trimble were all involved before Fergus McFadden gave the scoring pass to Heaslip.

Heaslip said: "This is one I will put on the mantelpiece. This try is very much a team try - nine passes, six players, as well as players working off the ball.

"There were some amazing tries in the nominations but I think this try shows the values of what rugby is all about."

Rival scores which just came up short included Chris Ashton’s length-of-the-field effort against Australia in 2010, Brodie Retallick's score against Australia in 2018 and Bryan Habana's against New Zealand in 2012.

New Zealand’s Portia Woodman was awarded the women’s 15s try of the decade.

Wales' George North was included in the men's team of the decade, which you can read about here.
