The train stations that are closed for Liverpool's Champions League victory parade

Merseyrail will close a number of train stations today ahead of Liverpool's Champions League victory parade.

The operator said it was to help make journeys into town quicker and plans to put on six car trains when possible.

Merseyrail said: "Due to the amount of planning involved, the parade needs to be organised in advance and transport arrangements put in place for fans to celebrate with the club, with train being the most effective way of getting into the city. Tickets can be purchased from any Merseyrail station before travelling.

"Frequent services will run throughout the day, strengthened to six cars wherever possible. There will be some minor timetable changes, but the frequency of trains will remain the same as a normal Sunday."

Here are the stations that will be closed:

  • Lime Street low level
  • James Street
  • Green Lane
  • Bromborough Rake
  • Capenhurst

In addition:

  • Northern line trains will only call at Moorfields in the city centre
  • Wirral line trains will only call at Liverpool Central in the city centre
