The Tottenham morning headlines as free transfer eyed, FA Cup prediction, big fight confirmed

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Tuesday, 3rd March.

FA Cup prediction

It's three defeats in a row for Jose Mourinho's side across all competitions, but they have a chance to get back to winning ways on Wednesday night.

Norwich City, who are bottom of the table in the Premier League, are the visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

And ex-Liverpool, Real Madrid, Man United and England striker Michael Owen is backing Spurs to come out on top - but only just.

Tottenham 2-3 Wolves: Jose Mourinho press conference

"As Spurs remain unconvincing without Kane and Son, calls for Mourinho to give Troy Parrott a chance are getting louder," Owen told BetVictor.

"The young Irishman must be champing at the bit to prove himself and I think this may well be a golden opportunity.

"Norwich’s league struggles are there for all to see and while I believe they’ll put up a fight, I can’t see them turning their fortunes around in the Cup and I fancy Spurs to win, albeit unconvincingly."

Free transfer eyed

A big story doing the rounds is Spurs' reported interest in Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster.

According to the Telegraph , the north London outfit are considering a move for the ex-Man United stopper on a free transfer where he would act as back-up to Hugo Lloris.

Foster is out of contract at Vicarage Road n the summer, but the report states that he might need persuading to give up his No.1 status.

Spurs to host heavyweight bout

Anthony Joshua will put his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight championships on the line against Kubrat Pulev on June 20 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Fighting at Tottenham's new stadium in the summer will be the first time Joshua has fought on home soil in nearly two years since he beat Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium.

And he couldn't be more excited to be fighting on home soil again.

"On June 20, I am defending my heavyweight world titles," Joshua said. "I'm back in my home city after some time away.

"A spectacular stadium has been built in north London and I'm honoured to bring the boxing community from all over the world to witness us make history with the stadium's first heavyweight world title fight.

"The belts go back up in the air and nothing will stop me from being victorious."

The big IFAB change

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has agreed to draw up protocols for substitution trials to address concussion incidents.

This decision which could eventually impact Premier League clubs including Tottenham Hotspur has been made following feedback from the recent meeting of the Concussion Expert Group (CEG).

IFAB have agreed that they will now undertake more research on the matter before proposing potential changes to the Laws of the Game moving forward.
