The top destinations for a pet friendly Scottish staycation this summer

With foreign travel restrictions in place across the country, many people are avoiding booking flights and places to stay abroad.

And as the green list regularly changes, many don't want to risk not being able to fly, thus being out of pocket.

So with holidaymakers sharing the same fears, it's no surprise that 'staycations' are becoming more popular with many choosing to holiday at home.

So if you fancy a night or two away from the covid chaos and need to unwind (who can blame you?) why not holiday in Scotland and enjoy the scenery our beautiful country has to offer.

From cosy cottages to unique glamping domes - there's something for everyone.

And why not bring your pets along too? We just hope you get some lovely weather!

Luxury Riverview City Centre Apartment

If you're thinking about having family or friends over but don't have enough space, why not rent a place closer to home and give them a tour of the city?

Vrbo, a global expert in family holiday rentals, is offering this luxury Riverview City Centre Apartment which comes with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and sleeps up to five people.

All major city centre shops and amenities are but a throw away from the apartment. Central station is a three minute walk and Queen Street station a 10 minute walk from the property.

It's stand out features include a breath-taking view from the balcony giving guests a view of the city’s most iconic river, the River Clyde, accompanied by a stunning city centre skyline.

Cuddies Cottage

The romantic lodge from Canine Cottages has one bedroom, one shower room and sleeps two people. and welcomes one furry friend. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

If you get lucky and the weather is warm enough, you can fire up the BBQ on the decking area and relax in the housed hot tub afterwards.

If you want to venture out, you can take your pup for a stroll at Wilton Lodge Park (10 miles). With its tree-lined hikes and walled gardens, it’s one of the most picturesque town parks in Scotland.

Dogs are also welcome everywhere at Hermitage Castle (15.5 miles), except for the roofed areas.

Lochside Duplex

Dog Friendly Retreats are currently having a 15% sale for all July and August holidays.

The Lochside Duplex offers one bedroom. two bathrooms and sleeps up to three people.

These individual self catering duplex suites come fully furnished with a double bedroom, en suite bathroom, Villeroy and Boch wet room downstairs, fully fitted kitchen, lounge, private patio overlooking the loch and own parking space.

All these apartments are available on ground floor so are easily accessible from the parking and have stunning views facing Loch Awe and Ben Cruachan mountain.

Discretionary but 50% deposit on booking and balance 30 days prior to arrival. First dog goes free for the full stay and after that £7.50 per night per dog..

The Cottage

This cosy cottage is located near Dumfries and Galloway. It has one bedroom, sleep two people and welcomes two pets for no extra charge.

It also features a small enclosed courtyard garden with sitting-out area, garden furniture and BBQ. Wildlife garden with bird hide and seating (shared with owner) and private parking for two cars.

Wi-Fi is included and guests will receive a welcome pack and doggy extras upon arrival.

Glamping Domes

If you want to camp in style, why not stay in this dome?

The pet friendly dome located at Loch Tay sleeps a maximum of three adults and one child. Infants and children between the ages of three and 12 go for free.

It features one double bed, children's camp mattresses (if needed), a wood burning stove, and allows a maximum of two dogs to stay.

No facilities are inside but included access to amenities block & campers kitchen are 100-200m away from Glamping Domes.

  • August 16-19
  • August 23-31
