The things people would miss about Greater Manchester if they had to move away

We all know Greater Manchester really is great.

From our amazing people, to our stunning buildings and our rich culture, we have a lot to be proud of.

This weekend, we asked our readers what they would miss the most about our amazing region if they had to move away.

The topic got people talking, with more than 1,000 people commenting on our Facebook post.

Many of you said the same things, though some of the answers were certainly interesting.

Here's our pick of some of our favourites.

What is the main thing you would miss about Greater Manchester if you moved away?

Colette Cox - "I moved to Florida nine years ago. I miss friends and family. Chippy dinners. But I don't miss the weather."

Hayley Double-U - "I have moved away and really miss how readily available music and gigs are in Manchester - among many other things."

Pamela Marti - "My friends who are like family! Moved here 19 years ago, not knowing a single person and this is now definitely home!"

Patricia Newbery - "The people, there is a certain warmth about them, and I have enjoyed living here."

Wendy Gledhill - "I’d miss the heart AND soul of Manchester."

Anthony Dawson - "Chips, mushy peas, thick gravy and maybe a cheese and onion pie."

Colin Kay - "Bury market and proper black puddings."

Marti Jackson - "Mancunians. Friendly like nowhere else. The vibe of Manchester too."

Alban Price - "Mates, pubs, football, nightlife, people, atmosphere, shops and the soul of Manchester."

Laura Rathore - "Moved away a while ago (I'm down south now) - miss lots of things: friendly people, the sense of humour, being called 'love', Manchester, Liverpool and.... of course... gravy."

Lyn Lawless - "I miss the friendliness, all forms of the music scene, theatre (soul music included here too) the vibrancy and culture and soul of the place."
