Arsenal are edging closer to signing Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, football.london understands.
The north London outfit have been heavily linked with a move for Mudryk in recent months and they are now closing in on a deal for the Ukrainian international. Shakhtar have consistently made it known that they will only accept a fee worth in the region of £88 million for the 22-year-old, a fee that the Gunners had been unwilling to offer.
But it is now understood that an agreement is getting closer to completion with talks now focusing on the structuring of the deal. Mudryk has enjoyed a hugely productive start to the 2022/23 campaign, netting ten goals and providing a further ten assists across all competitions - including five contributions in six UEFA Champions League matches.

That kind of form hasn't gone unnoticed, with Shakhtar director Darijo Srna comparing the youngster to the likes of Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior. Speaking last year, via HITC, Srna said: "For me, Mudryk is the best player in Europe in this position after Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
"After Mbappe and Vinicius, I don’t see a third player other than Mudryk in this position in Europe. Mudryk has crazy potential.” That is high praise indeed for Mudryk, who would become Arsenal's record signing if he does arrive for the £75-80million fee which has been suggested.
