The Snuts 'buzzing' to return to TRNSMT 2022 after Covid cancellation last year

Scottish band The Snuts took the UK by storm, hitting the heights with a number one best selling album 'W.L' - and now they are back into the swing of festivals, heading to TRNSMT in a couple of weeks time.

Ahead of their sophomore release, Burn The Empire, bass guitarist for The Snuts Callum Wilson took some time out of the busy band schedule to chat with Glasgow Live about their plans for the local festival.

Callum said the band were "absolutely buzzing" for the Glasgow Green gig on the Main Stage, explaining: "Last year when all the band caught Covid, me and Jack had just moved to Glasgow. We were living literally just off the Green, so I was sat staring out my window at the festival wishing I was there.

"I was eating the sadness away with some McDonald's, seeing folk with Snuts t-shirts on and everything walk by. So this year, we are so excited to perform on the main stage of the festival. It's going to be incredible!"

Callum praised the atmosphere of festival crowds, coming off the back of their debut at Glastonbury Festival 2022. He continued: "Glastonbury was incredible, and the feel of crowds at a festival is so wild compared to that of a venue gig.

"Especially with what's happened over the last few years with the pandemic, people have been absolutely itching to get back out and see the bands they love, and connect with new bands too. We've definitely seen a huge surge in festival crowds in the ones we have played at so far this year, and usually when you play a festival, you leave with a handful of new fans into the mix too.

"So, we just know TRNSMT will knock the metaphorical roof off of Glasgow - we are all so buzzing."

The Snuts latest single, The Rodeo, was recently released on streaming platforms, and Callum discussed the feeling of performing new songs to crowds. He added: "We will usually go with the fan favourites and newest singles at festivals, as it's a different crowd to a specifically booked concert - but the reception we've had with The Rodeo has been unreal.

"We are really excited to be playing it in Glasgow, and know the fan interaction at the gig will be class as well."

The Snuts will be supporting Kings of Leon at the OVO Hydro tonight, and will be at the TRNSMT Festival, taking place from Friday July 8 till Sunday July 10. Listen to their newest single, The Rodeo, out now on all streaming platforms.
