Players have had a couple of days now to get a feel of the combat in Halo Infinite since 343 Industries announced the multiplayer's early release on Monday.
While there are many weapons in the game that long-time Halo fans will be familiar with, there are also some new ones that shake up the meta a bit.
What kind of weapon you use also depends on the game mode and your play style, therefore there isn't a 'one size fits all' weapon.

But there are some clear contenders for the definitive best weapon in Halo Infinite which is why we'll be choosing from a range of long, mid, and short-range weapons as well as melee ones so you know what to keep your eye out for to gain an edge over your enemies.
It's also important to note that the game is still technically in its beta phase despite being released, which means there may be changes to the meta in the future.
Nonetheless, we'll do our best to keep you informed and updated!
With that out of the way, here are our top picks for the best weapons in Halo Infinite right now.

Sniper Rifle
Competitive Halo players will be more than familiar with the Sniper Rifle.
This cracked weapon has long been a symbol of true aim skills in the Halo franchise with its need for pinpoint accuracy.
More often than not, this weapon can achieve a one-shot skill, especially if you land that sweet headshot.
Despite being a long-range weapon, the brave (or crazy) among you can try to use this as a mid or even short-range weapon as the Sniper Rifle has surprisingly good accuracy at hip-fire.
But there is a bit of a glass ceiling you need to break with the Sniper Rifle and I wouldn't recommend it if you're not confident in your aim.
Skewer
The Skewer is mainly intended to be a long-range sniper rifle that allows for single-shot kills regardless of where you hit the enemy, meaning you don't have to rely on headshots.
While that's all fine and dandy, the Skewer is not an easy weapon to use or rely on.
It favours the high-risk high reward playstyle with a low velocity and a painfully long reload time.
However, where the Skewer beats the Sniper Rifle is the potential against vehicles.
If you're using a Sniper Rifle against an opponent in a vehicle you're going to have to get a headshot very quickly before it mows you down.
But with the Skewer, there's a good chance you could straight up destroy a vehicle as well as any opponents in it just by landing a hit anywhere with it.
It's not advisable to use this at a short range though as missing your shot will give the opponent plenty of time to eliminate you.
Gravity Hammer
The Gravity Hammer is a devasting weapon at close range as is capable of eliminating opponents and vehicles in one blow.
But while the Gravity Hammer is powerful it requires a bit of finesse.
It's a slow melee weapon that operates at its best at a very close range.
If you can get the timing and distance right then the Gravity Hammer will make you a force to be feared in most matches and game modes.
M41 SPNKr
The M41 SPNKr is a consistent one-shot-kill weapon that is easy to use for even new players.
Even if you miss your target, the sizeable area of damage (AoD) with this launcher means you're bound to at least put a decent amount of pressure on your opponent.
Due to its AoD, the M41 SPNKr is also capable of killing multiple opponents at once, giving you a major advantage in kill-based game modes.
Hydra
The Hydra is a unique weapon that blurs the line between a sniper rifle and a grenade launcher.
It comes with two fire modes that allow you to fire ordinances in a straight line and get consistent kills or you can lock onto vehicles and individual opponents and fire that way.
Because of this, the Hydra is a very welcoming weapon to new players who are still trying to get a feel for their aim.
Cinder Shot
The Cinder Shot is technically a shotgun but its damage potential makes it closer to a rocket launcher.
With two fire modes, this weapon can be used to fire shots in a straight row to easily hit opponents at a close range or it can burst a large shot forward, dealing high damage to vehicles.
In fact, the forward burst could result in a one-shot if you line up in the perfect position, but this may require some practice.
Energy Sword
The Energy Sword really needs no introduction, it's probably the most iconic weapon to come out of the Halo franchise.
It comes with fast melee speeds and a generous lunge which can shorten the distance between you and an opponent very quickly.
The Energy Sword should be saved for one-on-one encounters however as it leaves you vulnerable at mid and long ranges, making you an easy target for opponents with Sniper Rifles or Battle Rifles.
How to practice your aim in Halo Infinite
If you want to use these weapons in a multiplayer match but are afraid of missing all your shots or your simply not used to using that weapon Halo Infinite has you covered.
There is a 'Weapons Drill' mode that allows you to hit the shooting range and practice your aim without the pressure.
As mentioned in the beginning there is no one size fits all when it comes to weapons in this game and sometimes a gun simply isn't for you.
Thankfully there are much more weapons in Halo Infinite than the six mentioned and Halo Infinite gives you the freedom to explore what is best for you without giving you a disadvantage.
