The sensational name who has just entered the running for the Swansea City job

Gabriel Batistuta is the new shock name in the running for the vacant Swansea City manager's job.

Bookmakers Paddy Power have the Argentinean legend as 7/2 to succeed Graham Potter, who left the Liberty club last week to join Premier League outfit Brighton.

Swansea's under-23s boss Cameron Toshack to land the position, having nurtured a number of the first-team players through the age-grade systems at the Liberty.

But former Fiorentina talisman Batistuta is now close behind, with the 50-year-old keen to break into management in the UK.

He was recently mentioned as a possible contender for the Middlesbrough hot seat, after Tony Pulis was sacked following a poor season on Teesside.

The Serie A legend has no managerial experience, meaning any club taking a punt on him would be taking a huge risk. He has, however, completed his coaching badges and is looking to take his first step on the managerial ladder.

Other names linked with the post in recent days are former Swansea striker Shefki Kuqi and ex-Nuremberg boss Michael Kollner

Latest odds (courtesy of Paddy Power)

Cameron Toshack - 9/4

Gabriel Batistuta - 7/2

Gus Poyet - 7/2

Michael Flynn - 15/2

Alan Tate - 12/1

Chris Coleman - 14/1
