With staycations becoming ever more popular in recent times, thousands of people across the UK are rediscovering the joys of camping, with holidaymakers looking for the best places to go across Scotland.
New research by GO Outdoors has ranked the best spots across the United Kingdom for romantic couples camping and camping for families, based on a variety of factors including price and internet access, as well as the availability of hot tubs and adult-only campsites.
A spokesperson for the firm said: "Adventuring as a family can help to build your child’s self-confidence by overcoming fears at an early age, and provides endless opportunities for learning about nature and wildlife.
"So get on your walking boots this autumn and plan a family hiking trip to remember."
The Isle of Skye with its stunning natural beauty, ethereal landmarks such as the Fairy Pools and lively and welcoming. towns such as Portree was named as the best place in Scotland for couples camping and also made it into fourth place overall for the whole of the UK.

The island was also named best for adventurous families looking for an exciting camping trip, with thrilling walsk such as the Sligachan Waterfalls, a 1km walk taking 14 minutes to complete, and offering picturesque views of the waterfall and surrounding mountains, named as a big draw.
Skye is also home to 13 family-friendly campsites, including Skeabost View Pods which are the ideal spot for families who love "glamping or the idea of staying in a pod with internet access".
Also named on the list was Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, which was hailed for its spectacular scenery. The walk at Conic Hill from Balmaha Circular is a moderately challenging hike for families with more adventurous children, ideal for picnics, fishing and bird-watching.
The top place for family camping overall, however, was named as Fort William, which scored 8.93/10, with 87% of campsites in the area fit for older children and 73% are ideal for younger children. 13% of all campsites have a kids’ playground and almost three-quarters have internet access.
