The Restaurant War -- one of Netflix's most popular local cooking showdowns -- has returned to the streaming platform for a third season.
The overall concept is pretty similar to the last two seasons: It's a competition of street food vendors from across Thailand. The winner will receive a cash prize of 1 million baht.
The first episode was released earlier this month, seeing street food vendors -- some with many guaranteed awards -- bring their signature dishes to compete against one another. In the end, only 21 made it to the actual game. Just like the last two seasons, the competition is divided into three teams: Purple, Green and Orange. Each team is supervised by head chef trainers.
The Purple team is led by chef Pichaya "Pam" Soontornyanakij, the World's Best Female Chef 2025 and Asia's Best Female Chef 2024. Chef Pichaya also brought one of her team members to victory in the second season.
The Green team is supervised by chef Thitid "Ton" Tassanakajohn, Thailand's only chef with two Michelin-starred restaurants. He is the head chef behind Season 1's winning team.
The Orange team is led by chef Supamongkol "Art" Supapipat, Thailand's pioneer of the chef's table concept.
With chef Willment Leong as the "headmaster", the competition this year says it is looking for the "Street King Thailand" and claims to bring the charm of Thailand's street food to the international level.
Interestingly, this season we see a number of established street food vendors -- some of them won awards before from other TV cooking contests. There are also those with decades of cooking experience. So this season sees a good mix of street food vendors from around the country.
New episodes of The Restaurant War Season 3 are released every Sunday on Netflix.
