The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness – review

I sigh in wonder just thinking about it. This. Is. Genius. No kidding. It sums up my life, your life, his life, her life, everyone in-between’s life. It bl**dy gorgeous. I can’t even. It’s so beautifully written that I was hanging off every word. I loved it. I read it twice (which doesn’t sound a lot but it’s, y’know, a book…). The only fault I would highlight is that it did slightly, and I mean slightly, stereotype people. It didn’t really bother me, but everything’s got to have a negative.

fdfd

It’s about a boy called Mikey who is in the “friend zone” and has OCD and just wants the school not to be blown up for graduation. I’m not going to say any more because it’ll ruin it. Fans of good writing and great stories, read it because it’s brilliant.

Patrick Ness is just… ugh, I’m so jealous of his talent and amazing ability to portray characters as real human beings. It’s extremely inspiring and I just loved the whole idea of it. It’s great.

I won’t bore you with my endless raves about TRUJLH (not very catchy acronym is it?) but I will say I recommend it to readers 12+ due to mature themes and be ready to be blown off of your seat with wonderment and amazement because you will simultaneously feel all feels at once.
