The Redskins fail to trade Trent Williams before Tuesday deadline

The Washington Redskins will not be trading left tackle Trent Williams.

After announced just days ago that they would be willing to trade the seven-time Pro Bowler to a suitable team, in the end, Washington was unable to get a deal done by Tuesday’s NFL Trade Deadline, as no team would accept their high asking price.

The Cleveland Browns were the most notable trade partner, but reports have come out that they were unable to meet the high demands that Washington was putting in place. The Redskins reportedly asked for either a first-round pick or a high-profile player that could make a difference for the team. Earlier in the day, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that CB Denzel Ward was asked for in return for the 31-year-old lineman.

In the end, neither Washington nor Cleveland would budge; the Redskins wanted to sell high, and the Browns didn’t think that Williams was worth the price. It looks like the Redskins will be holding onto Williams for the rest of the season, and they will revisit talks this offseason.
