It's no secret Liverpool is a wonderful place to live and to visit.
While the city has plenty of traditional hotels and apartments available to make your temporary home, there's also some quirkier offerings.
Airbnb has rapidly been growing in popularity over the years, offering travellers and holiday-makers residences that are more flexible and eccentric than hotels.
We've rounded up our favourite, and most unusual, places available to book on the site below.

Paca Pod on Alpaca Farm

Instead of making a home away from home in a generic hotel, those who fancy something a bit different can cosy up in this log cabin in the heart of Wirral.
The farm has alpacas, donkeys, chickens, cats and a dog, all of which are available for visitors to engage with.
The 'Paca Pod' is fully self-contained and sits on a raised decked platform at the edge of a paddock.
It contains sleeping space for two, a bathroom with a shower and a kitchen.
Located in the middle of Wirral, on the edge of Heswall, a ten minute drive from the beach
Tiny houses
For an intimate place to stay, there a plenty of "tiny houses" in and around the city. These self contained units have all the amenities you'd need for a stay, just on a minuscule scale.
The majority are no wider than a caravan, but come with a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living space.
Airbnb has a few on offer on its site, some based in the city centre and some based further out.
Filmmaker favourite apartment

Carl Norman, one of the hosts of this apartment, shared with the Echo that "filmmakers regularly book the apartment when they're staying in the city for shoots."
The space has been newly refurbished and consists of a large open-plan living area that boasts an exposed redbrick fireplace, two double sofas that provide space for lounging and sleeping, along with a kitchen with all white goods.
There's also a decent sized bedroom that sleeps two guests - for an experience that's more homely.
The apartment is housed in a grand building with a vast staircase where up to six guests can feel like Hollywood big shots in this city centre retreat.

Central penthouse with room to spare

This city centre apartment may not look that unusual at first, but the space on offer is vast and impressive.
With city centre living, outdoor spaces can be slim pickings so this Duke Street penthouse provides something different - and it offers an impressive view of the city centre, River Mersey and even the Welsh Hills on a clear day.
The two bedroom duplex comprises of a large open plan living and dining area that opens out onto the terrace - an ideal feature for those who love to entertain.
The fully fitted galley kitchen is just off the dining space, while the two double bedrooms are found on the lower level of the apartment.

Artists' escape in purpose built 'Owl House' Hut

Escape busy city life in this quirky but tranquil retreat a 30 minute drive from the city centre.
This self-contained hut is complete with large round windows to take in views of the sea, natural wood elements and access to a private bathroom.
There's also kitchen facilities and a simple continental breakfast is provided by the host to make the most of some rest and relaxation.

If you're still nursing the Glastonbury blues but are prepared to venture further out of the city, there's a range of luxury bell tents on offer.
Airbnb has plenty of options in Wales that provide ample opportunity for some glamping.
On the outskirts of Delamere Forest, there is Lloyds Meadow which is an adults only site that offers couples the chance to get up close and personal with nature.

This stand alone studio apartment has room for three guests and comes with its own private garden and patio area.
It has been purpose-built to provide everything a guest could need in one cosy little space not far from Bowring Park.
There's a kitchenette with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and a hob for those who fancy cooking up a storm in the little space.
Entertaining is also possible because, despite its size, there's a table with room for four.

Stay aboard a houseboat
There are plenty of unusual boats available on the site - each with its own unique theme.
There's a Titanic inspired boat, which has three bedrooms that can sleep up to nine guests, a 007 inspired boat that sleeps eight and plenty more for even larger group bookings.
