The One Show's Captain Sir Tom Moore tribute leaves viewers 'unable to stop crying'

The One Show's touching tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore left viewers in floods of tears tonight.

Captain Sir Tom's daughters confirmed today that the hero NHS fundraiser has died aged 100 after contracting coronavirus and pneumonia.

He had been receiving treatment for pneumonia for some time and tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

Poignant tributes have been paid by the Queen, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Health Secretary Matt Hancock, and Labour Leader Keir Starmer.

During the BBC show today, its hosts and guests paid tribute to the national treasure.

At the end of the programme, Captain Sir Tom's song with the NHS Voices of Care Choir and Michael Ball, You'll Never Walk Alone, aired.

And viewers were left sobbing, with one tweeting: "I'm so soppy can't stop crying... #RIPCaptainSirTomMoore #theoneshow."

While another commented: "#TheOneShow has got me in bits."

A third wrote: "#TheOneShow I’m in tears now. #RIPCaptainSirTomMoore."
