The One Show's Alex Jones shares glimpse of 'mystery date' with husband Charlie

The One Show 's Alex Jones has shared a snippet of life with husband Charlie Thomson after he whisked her away for a "mystery overnight date". The Welsh presenter revealed the surprise was for her birthday as she shared her excitement on Instagram.

Posing with a birthday cake on Friday, March 18, Alex told her social media followers: "Thanks to my friends and family for making it such a lovely day. Husband is surprising me with a mystery overnight date. Half an hour to pack and no idea what to put in!!!!!"

Alex then documented the journey as the pair headed to a mystery destination. "Where are we going?" she asked Charlie as they travelled down the motorway, to which he replied: "I can't tell ya."

Speaking to the camera Alex excitedly told followers: "We're going on a birthday surprise overnight, we're in an Uber and we're going down the M4, and he let slip. He said, 'can you take more than 100ml on the plane?'"

Alex then shared another picture as the pair arrived at Heathrow's Terminal 5 before it was finally confirmed she was heading to Paris. And the 45-year-old appears to be having an amazing time, posting glasses of fizz, blue skies and dining out.

The Ammanford-born presenter and her husband Charlie, who is from New Zealand, have been together for over 10 years after meeting at a party in 2011. They tied the knot at Cardiff Castle in a gorgeous New Year's Eve ceremony in 2015.

Charlie stays out of the spotlight but Alex occasionally posts pictures of the pair together on Instagram. The couple share three children, Teddy, five, two-year-old Kit and baby Annie who they welcomed in August 2021. You can read more about Alex's family life here.

The trip to Paris comes after Alex recently enjoyed a break in Llandovery , Carmarthenshire. During the trip the BBC One hose posted sweet pictures of her and her family enjoying the area from wet and rainy walks, to paddling in puddles and visiting Llyn Brianne Dam.
