The Northern Lights could be seen from Scotland and Northern England TONIGHT

Scotland and Northern England could be in for an incredible treat tonight as the Northern Lights are set to make a rare appearance.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the aurora borealis could be seen between 9pm and 6am in northern parts of the UK.

The further North you are, the more likely it is you'll get a glimpse of the natural light show.

Rural places, far away from light pollution, are also more likely to get a glimpse.

Tonight's dazzling display will be especially powerful, which explains why it will be visible so much further south than normal.
