A new Wetherspoon pub is set to open in south London just in time for the festive period.
JD Wetherspoon has confirmed it will be opening a new branch in Coombe Lodge on 104 Coombe Road, Croydon, on December 17.
The site was previously used as a Beefeater before the eatery closed its doors in September after 37 years.
Coombe Lodge is expected to be the first new Wetherspoons to open in Croydon this century, serving the chain’s usual drinks while retaining its classic Wetherspoons character.

Wetherspoon said Croydon has “retained much of its rural character and many of its older grand houses, one of which was Coombe Lodge.”
The Grade II-listed building, which was originally part of the Coombe Estate, is ‘probably mid-18th century’, it added.
The building features a large 19th century conservatory, and the house was first listed as Coombe Lodge in the 1851 Post Office Directory.
This will be the fourth Wetherspoon pub in Croydon, alongside The George on George Street, The Sir Julian Huxley on Addington Road, and The Moon Under Water on London Road in Norbury.
Wetherspoons are also opening new branches in Bristol, Stockton-on-Tees and Wetherby.
Prior to the pandemic, there were eight Wetherspoon pubs in Croydon, though a number have since closed down, including Milan Bar on High Street and The Foxley Hatch in Purley.
