If, like me, you have mainly hard flooring, wet floor cleaners can be a real timesaver when doing housework. And while I love mine for its powerful cleaning and relief from the back-breaking task of mopping, the only thing I hate is the appliance maintenance and intricate cleaning that comes afterwards.
That’s why I was so excited to learn of Dyson’s new Clean+Wash Hygiene — which could solve my biggest woes. This isn't Dyson's first wet floor cleaner, but it's got some welcome upgrades over its predecessor, the Dyson WashG1, which I had put to the test in my home and rated as one of the best vacuum cleaners. This upgraded model comes with three key features to improve usability and tackle the ‘mucky’ maintenance side of things. Here’s everything you need to know.
1. It has no filter or pipes to eliminate dirty streaks
Since I test wet floor cleaners for a living, one common problem I see is rogue dirt smears left on floors after cleaning. The Dyson Clean+Wash tackles this by integrating its dirty water filter into the cleaner head — rather than inside the machine.
Essentially, the cleaner head captures and holds all the mucky waste so that any dirt won’t travel upwards and build-up in the internal pipes.
Another notable feature is that it has no filter that tends to trap dirt and give off bad smells over time. All of which can make the whole cleaning experience bothersome — and something I would avoid as long as possible.
2. It self-cleans and can dry its roller with hot air
Another impressive upgrade is the Clean+ Wash's ability to dry its roller with hot air after it self-cleans. Now, the wet roller can be dried with 185 °F hot air, which is a far more hygienic way to prevent bacteria growth on the roller and of course, combat smelly odors. What's more, it will be dry and ready for your next clean, without leaving sopping puddles on the floors, which is always a bonus.
And while its predecessor, the WashG1, already had a self-cleaning function to run clean water over the dirty roller, it couldn't dry. Making this feature a useful improvement and less maintenance in the long-term.
3. It's super lightweight and has a low profile
Another gripe of mine when it comes to handling wet floor cleaners is the weight. This is especially when I have to travel up and down my stairs. In fact, I found this to be the case when carrying a hefty WashG1 around my home.
The new Clean+Wash, however, is designed to be lightweight and low profile. In fact, at just 3.82kg, Dyson claims this to be "one of the lightest and lowest profile wet and dry cleaners on the market", which would be a plus for homes with multiple floors.
Perhaps one feature that caught my attention is its ability to lie flat to just 113mm, to easily get under low sofas, beds, and furniture. Again, that was another problem I faced with the WashG1, in tackling awkward spaces and properly getting under my low-rise sofa.
When can I buy the Dyson Clean+Wash wet floor cleaner?
Sadly, those in the US will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on Dyson's Clean+Wash wet floor cleaner as it won't be available to buy until 2026. But we will be sure to update you as soon as we hear more.
