The new Citroen C4 breaks cover

FRENCH car maker Citroen has released the first images of the new C4 family hatchback, which is to be launched with conventional and electric powertrains.

With a more chiselled body style than its predecessors, the new model has a pronounced front overhang and a sweeping roofline. Details are sparse at the moment, although the new C4 and the electric e-C4 will be unveiled online in a presentation to be screened by Citroen executives on June 30.

The marque says the car is due for release before the year is out and, as well as the choice of petrol, diesel or electric power, the C4 will be fitted with the brand’s latest comfort features, including its progressive hydraulic cushion suspension system.

Citroen describes the newcomer as a blend of hatchback and SUV styles in the compact part of the market. The interior appears to be fairly clutter-free, with instrumentation centred on two display screens – one in front of the driver and the other in the middle of the dashboard.

While the C4 sees the return of the brand to more traditional segments following Citroen’s recent SUV ventures with the C3 and C5 Aircross models, the e-C4 is the fifth electrified vehicle it will have launched this year.
