The Matt Ritchie skill that had Pep Guardiola purring after Newcastle clash

Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on Matt Ritchie's dead ball delivery as he hailed Newcastle's "aggression".

Ritchie has been a revelation as Newcastle have revived their season after the nadir of the Brighton loss. He has dragged the team back from the brink and his free-kick and corner delivery has been a key weapon in Newcastle armoury.

The opener against Manchester City was another superb dead ball from Ritchie, following on from some sublime crosses against Leicester.

And Guardiola singled out Ritchie as one of Newcastle's danger men in his assessment afterwards.

"The spirit from the first minute to the last minute was there," he said - referring to his own team's fightback.

"We made a comeback from 3-2. Hopefully we can learn after our little distractions. (We conceded) three set pieces, corners - of course, (Matt) Ritchie is so good as a taker and they are so tall and so aggressive.

"We have to improve on that."
