The Masked Singer's Rubbish revealed to be Scots snooker legend Stephen Hendry at axing

Scots star Stephen Hendry became the latest star revealed on The Masked Singer as the star leaves the competition.

Snooker legend Stephen was unmasked on Saturday night leaving judges Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross stunned as well as the audience.

Chat show host Jonathon Ross came the closest to guessing correctly assuming the triangle in Rubbish’s costume related to snooker balls and guessed Robbie O’Sullivan.

As Rubbish, Stephen performed the Kaiser Chiefs’ hit Ruby while Mo thought the celeb underneath was Olympic cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, while Davina guessed The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades due to the link to recycling.

On taking part in the mad guessing game, Scottish star Stephen, 54, said: "I thought it was so obvious because it was me." He added: "I love the show and it’s way out of my comfort zone so I thought why not let’s give it a go."

In a Q&A post-show, the snooker champ also described The Masked Singer as his ‘guilty pleasure.’

He continued: "I have had the opportunity to do other shows that would have put me in that same uncomfortable position but being completely hidden made it so much easier for me to let loose and get my head around the challenge."

Explaining his favourite clues, he recalled the VT packages saying that he is the ‘youngest in your field’ (as a world champion), mentioning cars and Grand Prix (The Grand Prix was his first ranking win).

Fawn, Jacket Potato, Rhino, Pigeon, and Rubbish were competing against each other this week. While both Rubbish and Jacket Potato were in the bottom two, the judging panel opted to save the savoury snack to perform again.

This comes after fans were left reeling following the true identities of Cat and Mouse as showbiz legends Martin and Shirlie Kemp were unveiled as the shows first singing duo. The first elimination of 2023 saw Chris Kamara unmasked underneath Ghost’s sheet, before pop icon Lulu was revealed as Piece of Cake.

Martin confessed he was more nervous being under the mask, as he confessed: "I was more nervous. I could literally hear my heart in my ears," whilst Shirlie said it was harder to sing in the mask than out of one.

On doing the show, Lulu revealed: "My grandchildren love this show, they love it! I love it too and that’s why I’m here. Because it’s such a fun show."
