The Masked Singer: Bush Baby’s identity revealed in latest episode

The Masked Singer unmasked its fifth celebrity on tonight’s episode (23 January).

The hit ITV series sees a roster of celebrities dress up in elaborate costumes that conceal their identity, and compete in a singing competition.

During the episode, all eight remaining competitors performed before the TV audience, as well as judges Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall.

At the end of the programme, Bush Baby and Dragon were voted by viewers into the final face-off, with the judges deciding they wanted Dragon to continue on the series next week.

After he was chosen for elimination, it was then revealed that Bush Baby’s identity was in fact actor and comedian John Thomson.

In a rare circumstance for the programme, none of the judges had correctly guessed Thomson’s identity at any point during the series.

Thomson is an amateur magician, which accounts for the magic trick clues, while the briefcase clue was a nod to his performance as a children’s entertainer on Coronation Street.

The cookery references also tipped towards Thomson’s appearance on Celebrity Masterchef.

Elsewhere on the episode, Harlequin seriously impressed the judges with a soulful version of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car”, while Viking’s version of “Take On Me” had people wondering whether the man under the mask was in fact A-ha singer himself, Morten Harket.

Robin also performed a version of “Rockin’ Robin” by Leon Rene (made famous by the Jackson 5).

The Masked Singer continues on ITV at 7pm every Saturday, with next week’s episode set to feature the first double elimination.
