The Mandalorian season 2: Star Wars actor behind ‘amazing’ character return reacts to ending

An original Star Wars actor has reacted to the Mandalorian moment that has left fans reeling.

The Disney+ series’s second season came to a dramatic end on Friday (18 December) with a conclusion that excited viewers thanks to the return of a beloved character from the original trilogy.

*Spoilers follow – you have been warned*

The Mandalorian’s second season ended with an instalment titled “The Rescue” as Pedro Pascal’s lead character led the escape mission to free Grogu (formerly known as Baby Yoda) from the clutches of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito).

In the closing moments, the characters are surrounded by a deadly band of droids known as Dark Troopers and, when their situation is looking particularly fatal, a recognisable Jedi swoops in to save the day.

A young Luke Skywalker, equipped with his iconic green lightsaber, takes out the droids and collects Grogu from Mando (Pascal). He’s accompanied by R2-D2.

The moment sent fan excitement into overdrive, and Hamill himself – who reprised the role for the episode – responded to the moment on Twitter.

After it had been broadcast, he wrote:  "Seen anything good on TV lately?"

Many fans are calling the show the best Star Wars project since the original trilogy, with this twist hailed as “epic” and “amazing”.

Skywalker isn’t the only original character to have returned this season. Boba Fett also showed up and joined ranks with the main characters to help take down Gideon in the finale.

There is currently no word on when fans can expect The Mandalorian season three.
