The Loop: Royal Easter show's fatal brawl, Qantas faces ACCC allegations, and why NZ's opposition is concerned with Labor's aged care plan

One thing to know: One dead after being stabbed in fight at Sydney Royal Easter Show

Here's what happened:

  • One man is in custody after a youth was fatally stabbed and another injured during a wild brawl at the Sydney Royal Easter Show
  • Both were taken to Westmead Hospital, where police announced one of them had died
  • Police said emergency services were called to the show around 8pm on Monday
  • The ABC understands that initial investigations suggest it was not a random stabbing and the people involved are known to each other
  • The youth who died was stabbed in the chest and abdomen. NSW Ambulance Inspector Mark Whittaker said he died on the way to hospital despite the efforts of paramedics

  • A consumer advocacy group has lodged a formal complaint with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) about Qantas's flight credit policy
  • Choice said the airline's flight credits scheme was "unfair and unworkable" and it might involve "potential unfair contract terms and misleading and deceptive conduct"
  • Choice spokesperson Dean Price said Qantas was placing unreasonable barriers in the way of travellers trying to redeem their credits or get a refund from cancelled travels

  • Billy Ray Cyrus — TMZ has reported Tish Cyrus filed for divorce from Mr Cyrus after 30 years of marriage
  • Johnny Depp — The US defamation trial has begun over allegations his ex-wife Amber Heard made about domestic abuse
