Fans believe they've cracked the release date for "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" remake, and it has nothing to do with an official Nintendo announcement.
Instead, the theory traces back to two unreleased items that surfaced in listings that Nintendo watchers say follow a familiar pattern tied to the company's biggest game launches.

The theory started on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, where a user pointed out that Nintendo UK had listed Sword Kirby & Dragoon and Noir Dedede & Hydra amiibo, both tied to "Kirby Air Riders," with a release date of November 11.
Since neither figure has any connection to "Ocarina of Time," the Reddit post argued that Nintendo has historically released amiibo alongside unrelated first-party games, using that pattern to suggest the Zelda remake could be the actual title launching that same day.
Publications like ComicBook backed up the theory, noting that Nintendo's other major fall titles, "Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave" and "Nintendo Switch Sports Resort," are already dated for September and October, respectively. "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" remains the only major announced game left that would logically fit a November release.
The listings were later updated to show November 12 instead, a Thursday, which lines up more closely with Nintendo's usual release day pattern than the original Wednesday date.
Nintendo's Release Pattern Could Confirm the Release
Supporters of the theory point to several past examples backing up this amiibo pairing pattern. The Mineru's Construct amiibo, tied to "Tears of the Kingdom," received its release date before Nintendo even announced "Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave," yet both ended up sharing a September 17 launch.
Similarly, the Meta Knight and Shadow Star amiibo were dated ahead of "Pokémon Pokopia's" reveal, while the Dedede and Tank Star amiibo were listed before "Rhythm Heaven Groove" got its own release date confirmed.
Despite that pattern lending some credibility to the theory, it remains just that, a theory, with no confirmation from Nintendo tying these specific Kirby Air Riders amiibo to "Ocarina of Time" in any way.
Nintendo currently has no other announced Switch or Switch 2 titles scheduled for November, which is part of what has fueled the speculation in the first place.

Nintendo officially revealed the "Ocarina of Time" remake during its June 2026 Direct, confirming only a vague 2026 release window without further details. The game recently received its ESRB rating, a step that typically only happens once a release date is relatively close, reinforcing the idea that a formal announcement could be coming soon.
If the November 11 or 12 date proves accurate, the remake would launch just about a week ahead of "Grand Theft Auto 6," a release window most other publishers have actively avoided given the anticipated attention surrounding that game.
