The latest product recalls from supermarkets including Lidl, Morrison's and IKEA

A host of supermarket giants and retailers have issued recall notices for a variety of products, as ordered to by the Food Standards Agency and Trading Standards

Some of these products have been contaminated with pieces of metal or plastic, or could be posing health risks to people due to harmful bacteria. Customers are being urged to return the items immediately if they have bought any of the following products recently.

Ella's Kitchen Banana Multigrain Baby Rice - sold in Morrison's and Tesco

Ella’s Kitchen is recalling Banana Multigrain Baby Rice because it contains oats, (gluten) which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, an allergy or intolerance to oats or gluten.

The inclusion of oats also makes this product thicker in texture than it should be for a four month plus product.

The product details are as follows:

  • Best before date: October 6, 2023

Ella’s Kitchen is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

Iceland Foods Takeaway Pilau Rice

Iceland Foods Takeaway Pilau Rice. (Iceland)

Iceland Foods is recalling Iceland Takeaway Pilau Rice because it contains egg, sesame, soya and wheat, which are not mentioned on the label. The product has been incorrectly packed with egg fried rice.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg and/or wheat (gluten) and/or an allergy to sesame and/or soya.

The product details are as follows:

  • Pack size: 350 grams
  • Best before date: January 24, 2024

Iceland Foods Ltd is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

Lidl's Scottish Smoked Salmon and Trout

Lidl GB is extending the recall of smoked trout to include smoked salmon products produced by St James Smokehouse. This is due to the fact that these products may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is the species of pathogenic bacteria that causes the infection listeriosis, not usually serious for most people.

But some people have a higher risk of serious problems, including:

  • people who are pregnant
  • newborn babies
  • people over 65 years of age
  • people with a condition that weakens their immune system, such as cancer, liver disease or kidney disease
  • people having treatment that weakens their immune system, such as chemotherapy or steroid tablets
  • people with diabetes who are unable to keep their blood sugar level down, even with treatment (uncontrolled diabetes)

  • Lidl Deluxe Oak Smoked Scottish Louch/ Loch Trout - All use-by dates between and including December 20, 2022 and January 6, 2023.

  • Lidl Lighthouse Bay Smoked Trout Trimmings - All use-by dates between and including December 20, 2022 and January 6, 2023.
  • Lidl Deluxe Mild & Delicate Smoked Scottish Salmon - Use by date of January 11, 2023.

  • Lidl Deluxe Smoked Scottish Salmon with Ben Bracken Whisky - Use by date of January 11, 2023.

  • Lidl Lighthouse Bay Smoked Scottish Salmon Trimmings - Use by date of December 31, 2022.

Almondy AB Almond Cake with Daim - sold in IKEA, Tesco and Sainsbury's

Almondy AB is recalling Almondy Almond cake with Daim because a metal piece has been found in the product which makes it unsafe to eat. This product is sold in IKEA stores, and can be found in many supermarkets.

  • Best before date: November 18, 2023

Asda is taking the precautionary action of recalling three Asda in store bakery Extra Special Mince Pies because they may contain pieces of plastic, which makes them unsafe to eat.
