With all the buzz about where J.J. McCarthy is going in the 2024 NFL Draft, maybe the question we should be asking is: will there be a quarterback who unexpectedly drops because of his rise?
Could that be North Carolina’s Drake Maye? In our latest mock draft from Christian D’Andrea, Maye went No. 3 overall in a projected Atlanta Falcons trade. But in the latest NFL.com mock from Bucky Brooks, he’s got Maye dropping just outside the top 10 to the Minnesota Vikings at No. 11, giving them their QB of the future. We’ve seen other mocks with Maye going outside the top 10.
Here’s Brooks’ take:
Kevin O’Connell and Co. might have to move up the board to land a franchise quarterback, and they have two first-round picks to help them maneuver. Maye, an athletic playmaker with A-plus arm talent and mobility, is a perfect fit for the Vikings’ offense.
