The killer stat behind Karlan Grant's major threat to Leeds United

Leeds United will have to be wary of the threat Huddersfield Town striker Karlan Grant will pose during Saturday's West Yorkshire derby at the John Smith's Stadium.

Grant, who was signed by the Terriers from Charlton Athletic back in January this year, has been nothing short of outstanding for Danny Cowley's side so far this season.

The striker, who has started all 19 of Huddersfield's Championship matches so far this term, is currently one of the division's most feared forwards, having bagged 11 goals so far.

Not only is Grant the fourth-highest goal-scorer in the Championship this term, with only Aleksandar Mitrovic, Jarrod Bowen and Ollie Watkins boasting a better record, but the former Charlton man has also contributed to 50 per cent of Huddersfield's goals this season, proving just how much the Terriers rely on him.

And not only has Grant, who has scored four goals in his last seven appearances, been consistently finding the net for Cowley's troops, he has also been proven to be one of the Championship's most important match-winners, according to statistics.

Stats show Grant, formerly of Crawley Town, is the second-best match-winner in the Championship, with three of his goals this season directly winning Huddersfield three points.

Only ahead of Grant in that particular category are Fulham's Mitrovic, who has 14 league goals so far this term, and Watkins of Brentford.

Grant will have to be at his very, very best if he is to do damage to Leeds this weekend. The Whites will make the short hop to the John Smith's boasting the best defensive record in the league this season.

In 19 league outings, Marcelo Bielsa's team has only conceded 10 goals, four fewer than nearest challengers Brentford and Nottingham Forest.
