All eyes will be on Wembley this weekend, when Sunderland take on Charlton in the League One play-off final.
But when it comes to picking up points away from home, Jack Ross' Black Cats have the advantage ahead of the Wembley showdown.
While Charlton have the supposed tag of 'home' side for this weekend's clash because of their higher league finish, it merely a technicality for considerations such as which strip each side will wear.
In reality, it's an away day for both sides, of course, and that's where Sunderland have the slight edge.
After 23 away league fixtures this season there was only four points between the two sides - Sunderland had the second best away haul with 39 points, which accounted for 46% of their overall total.
Only Portsmouth bettered Sunderland on the road by picking up 45 points (51% of total points) out of their 88 overall.
Charlton finished sixth on away fixtures, ending up with 35 points at the end of the season which was 40% of their overall points.
Of Sunderland’s 23 away fixtures 10 were wins, Charlton managed to achieve the same with the London side losing eight times compared to Sunderland's four.
Draws have been the story of Sunderland's season, with the Wearsiders picking up nine on their travels, seven of which ended 1-1.
Of Sunderland’s nine draws they had the lead in six of them and conceded the equaliser no earlier than the 50-minute mark, with three of the goals coming in the 87th minute twice and once in the 91st.
Charlton, on the other hand, only managed five draws, but ultimately lost more games than Sunderland, giving the Black Cats the away advantage on form.
In terms of goals scored and conceded, Sunderland bettered their rivals on both, scoring 34 to Charlton’s 32 and conceding 22 to Charlton’s 25.
It is worth noting that Sunderland had the joint best away defence in the whole league with only Bristol Rovers matching them.
Charlton averaged 1.52 points per game on the road, Sunderland who averaged 1.70 points per game were only bettered by Portsmouth who took 1.96 points per game whilst travelling.
More statistics show that Sunderland scored 42% of their goals away from home with Josh Maja and Aiden McGeady scoring five each, followed by Lee Cattermole, Luke O’Nien and Chris Maguire who all scored four.
Charlton scored 44% of their goals away from home with Lyle Taylor picking up eight followed by Karlan Ahearne-Grant who scored five times but has since left the club.
