The Inbetweeners 2 – so near, yet so far

Good news – and yet not such good news – for Inbetweeners fans eagerly awaiting a big-screen sequel. The Inbetweeners movie, you may remember, broke box office records last year, amassing £45m in the UK alone. There has been no shortage of speculation about a follow-up, and Iain Morris – who co-created the show with Damon Beesley – says the script is, well ... over to the man himself. "Because the film was genuinely independent, there's no studio breathing down our neck," Morris told the new issue of Radio Times. "It's down to us to write a script that we think is worth everyone's time; Inbetweeners fans are more discerning and vocal than people give them credit for. The last thing any of us wants is a cheap cash-in. At the moment, that script is at version 0.5, so we're getting close ... but we're not there yet." There have also been talks with Paramount about a Hollywood remake of the first film. But which will reach the big screen first?
