‘The ignorance, the hubris, the lies’: Harrison Ford lashes out at Trump, says he hasn’t seen a ‘greater criminal in history’ than him

Star Wars and Air Force One star Harrison Ford has never been a big fan of Donald Trump or the Republican Party, and he is once again making his feelings about them clear in a recent conversation.

In an article published by The Guardian on October 31, 2025, Ford referred to Donald Trump as a “criminal,” criticised his lack of concern for climate change, and admitted that Trump “scares the shit out of him.” Ford also commented on Trump’s unpredictable nature, which he believes often influences his decision-making. He stated:

“…doesn’t have any policies, he has whims. It scares the shit out of me. The ignorance, the hubris, the lies, the perfidy. [Trump] knows better, but he’s an instrument of the status quo and he’s making money, hand over fist, while the world goes to hell in a handbasket.”

In the past few months, Donald Trump has made a series of poor decisions that have significantly harmed Americans. In addition to the crackdown on immigrants, the government shutdown, and cuts to SNAP benefits, Trump has also been damaging the environment, affecting the country’s soil, air, and water. He has pulled the United States out of the Paris climate agreement, encouraged oil companies to “drill, baby, drill” for fossil fuels, and has fired several scientists while promoting anti-environmentalism since taking office as the US President for a second term this year. Nevertheless, Harrison Ford believes that change is still possible. In the Guardian article mentioned earlier, Ford stated:

“I’m confident we can mitigate against [climate change], that we can buy time to change behaviors, to create new technologies, to concentrate more fully on implementation of those policies. But we have to develop the political will and intellectual sophistication to realize that we human beings are capable of change. We are incredibly adaptive, we are incredibly inventive. If we concentrate on a problem we can fix it most times.”

Harrison Ford shares a perspective that includes both pessimism and optimism about America’s future, but I find myself leaning towards scepticism. While Trump may be the worst person to address climate change, I am concerned that even if he were not leading, we might have already caused enough harm to make most changes irreversible.
