Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) took a commanding sprint victory on stage 1 of the Tour de France Femmes on the sharp uphill into Lausanne.
The Dutch sprinter crossed the line bike lengths ahead of runner-up Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance-Soudal Team) and third-placed Demi Vollering (FDJ United-SUEZ) to take the first yellow jersey of this nine-day race.
She was among a reduced group to enter the final kilometres after a crash-marred opening day.
Wiebes now tops the GC standings by four seconds ahead of second-placed Le Court-Pienaar.
Vollering, winner of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes, is currently in third place overall at six seconds back.
Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Premier Tech) sits in fourth place and leads the next group in the overall classification, who are all 10 seconds behind Wiebes.
Noemi Rüegg (EF Education-Oatly) is in fifth place, Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE Team L'IMAD) in sixth place, and Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney (Canyon-Sram), winner of the 2024 Tour de France Femmes, in seventh place.
Also at 10 seconds back is the defending champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (Visma-Lease a Bike), who appeared comfortable on the final climb and in the final sprint. She is in eighth place overall.
Cédrine Kerbaol (EF Education-Oatly) is in ninth place, and Marlen Reusser (Movistar), who crashed with 21.3km to go, finished safely in the bunch and is sitting in tenth place overall.
The Tour de France Femmes continues on Sunday for stage 2, a 147.9km from Aigle to Geneva.
