The First Descendant revealed the roadmap for the second half of 2026 during its second anniversary livestream. Alongside the new Descendants and dungeons, there’s a PvEvP mode, bringing PvP elements to the game for the first time.
Revealed during the livestream on July 1, Colosseum-A is the first asymmetrical PvEvP mode coming to The First Descendant in December. Rest assured, this isn’t an extraction mode. Instead, two teams of three fight Vulgus and invade each other by transforming into a Colossus, which sounds a lot like Gambit from Destiny 2, except for the transformation part.
Another new mode is called Trials, and it’s coming to the game much sooner – with the Season 4 launch on Aug. 20. Trials is a challenging roguelite mode with escalating difficulty. At the core of the mode are the buffs you pick, similar to those in Onslaught, that allow for different playstyles and power fantasies.
New dungeons are also coming, with Cradle of Evolution scheduled for the Sept. 17 update. It features more randomized elements than existing dungeons to reduce repetitiveness, which has been a common complaint when farming new Descendants or Ultimate weapons. Cradle of Evolution is followed by another dungeon in November, Henosis Sanctuary.
Some of this content is months away, though. In the meantime, you can look forward to the Void Intercept Battle: Extreme coming on July 15. It revamps the Void Intercepts, combining Hard and Abyss difficulties into a more customizable experience.
Season 4 kicks off on Aug. 20, featuring the finale of Karel’s story in a cinematic Mega Dungeon, new Descendant Raven, and the introduction of Transcendent weapons that promise to be the next long-term grind in The First Descendant – farming guns with the highest stats, similar to Ancestor Modules.
A Transcendent weapon has multiple effects, and depending on stat rolls, you can lean into a specific effect to complement your build. Some Transcendent weapons are upgraded versions of existing Ultimate weapons, like Storm Cage, which is the Transcendent version of the Thunder Cage.
As we enter the second half of 2026, The First Descendant returns to the cadence of releasing new Descendants every Episode, with Raven, Ultimate Hailet, Monet, and Ultimate Jayber slated for the rest of the year.
Whether it’s increasing your Mastery Rank through collecting weapons and Descendants or taking on new challenges, the rest of the year promises to be busy. On top of that, the developer promises to populate the roadmap with more monthly additions as time goes on.
