The First Descendant has been struggling to shape a core gameplay loop for the past year, which is why 2026 will be an important year for the game when developers overhaul multiple systems to streamline the game, add more variety, and introduce more endgame content.
Here’s everything you can expect to see in The First Descendant throughout 2026.
Everything coming to The First Descendant in 2026
While the first half of 2026 focused on reorganizing the game’s core loop, the second half is all about new replayable content and meaningful pursuits. This includes a roguelite mode, Trials, and Transcendent Weapons, which promise to be a longer grind, like Ancestor Modules.
Season 3 Episode 2 (January 2026)
Here’s everything added to The First Descendant in January 2026:
- Breach Tracking Field
- Enzo’s monthly balance
- Weapon improvements
Season 3 Episode 2 added a new Breach Tracking Field activity/content designed to farm Gold alongside other materials, such as Superconductive Cooling Units, used to readjust Ancestor Modules. It randomly selects from one of the old fields (White-night Gulch, Vespers, or Fortress), making it less repetitive.
There was also the monthly balancing update for Enzo, which followed a similar format to Hailey’s and Ajax’s reworks, but with fewer net benefits, despite the goal being to make him a strong firearm damage dealer.
Season 3 Episode 3 (February 2026)
Here’s everything added to The First Descendant on Feb. 5, 2026:
- Dia
- Underwater Base dungeon
- Unveiled Truth story
- Gley’s monthly balance
- HQ Standing and Special Orders
- Second boost path
Here’s everything added to The First Descendant on Mar. 12, 2026:

Here’s everything added to The First Descendant on Apr. 16, 2026:
- Onslaught mode (Beta)
- Ines Transcendent Module
- Viessa’s monthly balance
- Mutant Cell improvements
One of the core new additions in Season 3 Episode 3 was the new endgame mode, Onslaught. It’s a wave-based mode where you defend the base and deploy turrets, similarly to Onslaught from Destiny 2. Throughout the first half of 2026, Nexon slowed down the release cadence of new Descendants.
Dia was the only long-awaited addition to the roster in Episode 3, released with the February update. The rest of the Episode was dedicated to improving existing characters, like Gley, Sharen, and Viessa.
Season 3 Episode 4 (May 2026)
The last Episode of Season 3 features changes to multiple core loops, including farming and Void Intercept Battles. Much like previous Episodes, Episode 4 is split into three monthly updates, running from May to July.
Here’s everything added to The First Descendant on May 21, 2026:

Here’s everything coming to The First Descendant on July 15, 2026:

Void Intercept Battles on Hard difficulty will undergo an overhaul, as right now their only purpose is to farm External Components and occasionally Transcendent Modules. The new Extreme mode combines Hard and Abyss difficulties with more customizability through modifiers.
For Descendant balance adjustments and reworks, the developer revealed Valby, Bunny, and Blair. Among weapons, changes are coming to Voltia, Enduring Legacy, ERASER, Albion Cavalry Gun, Divine Punishment, and The Final Masterpiece.
Season 4 (August 2026 and beyond)

Here’s everything coming to The First Descendant in December:
- Colosseum-A PvEvP mode
- Ultimate Jayber
- Transcendent melee weapons
- Jayber’s story
Apart from new Descendants, including Raven and long-awaited Ultimate Hailey, there are new modes that promise to shape the new endgame of The First Descendant. Trials is a roguelite with escalating difficulty where you pick buffs to lean into a specific playstyle.
At the end of the year, a PvEvP mode is coming to the game. It’s a 3v3 mode, where teams fight Vulgus and invade each other by transforming into a Colossus. As always, there will be new dungeons, but the Cradle of Evolution has more randomized elements than existing dungeons.
With all the new content, The First Descendant adds a new long-term pursuit: Transcendent weapons. The logic behind their farming is somewhat similar to Ancestor Modules, where you grind drops to get high stats. One difference is that Transcendent weapons have multiple effects/abilities, and depending on the rolls, you can lean into a specific one.
Apart from new content, Lounge Storage Trade revamps the trading system, allowing you to trade items without both players needing to be online.
