Michel Vorm is still on the lookout for a new club this summer following his release from Tottenham at the end of last season.
Joining the club in 2014 from Swansea City along with Ben Davies, the goalkeeper provided cover for Hugo Lloris before Paulo Gazzaniga leapfrogged him in the pecking order after some impressive performances in the Frenchman's absence.
Mauricio Pochettino hasn't made a move to sign a direct replacement for the 35-year-old this summer, with Alfie Whiteman the man who will step up to be Spurs' third-choice goalkeeper at home and in Europe.
There's still plenty of time for Vorm to get a new club as Premier League teams can still bring in free agents providing they are registered as part of the 25-man squad before they are announced at the start of September.
Well, Vorm very nearly could have been playing for one of Spurs' top-six rivals as Liverpool had discussed making a move for the shot-stopper due to a goalkeeping crisis at Anfield.
Former West Ham goalkeeper Adrian arrived prior to the new league season as backup to Alisson, who is now on the sidelines for the next few weeks due to a calf issue sustained against Norwich City on the opening weekend.
Rather than offer a contract to Vorm for the season, former Preston North End goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has instead penned a contract on Merseyside after helping out on the club's US tour this summer.
"The signing of Vorm had been discussed," Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg told NOS in Holland.
"A good third goalie at a top club is not a superfluous luxury, I have always said.
"Lonergan has more than 250 matches at Championship level experience, not to be underestimated. And it's not for nothing that Kelleher is Ireland's youth international."
