The Everton regular not worth his place and the January transfer necessity Marco Silva needs

Connor O’Neill, City Centre

This weekend’s game away to Burnley is absolutely massive. While Saturday’s performance was much-improved from what we have previously witnessed, we ultimately still fell to a another defeat.

The pressure continues to increase on Marco Silva, and although those both inside and outside the club seem keen on giving him more time, defeat on Saturday could see that change very quickly.

After all the investment and all the hype during the summer, it seems criminal that we are now looking at things from a glass half-empty perspective.

There is only one way this can change, and that is by Everton winning football matches.

And there would be no better time to start than this Saturday.

Lee Molton, St Helens

It was a better performance from the Blues on Saturday against the champions and we were a bit unlucky to lose 3-1.

We created a lot of chances and worried Man City, especially in the second half, and  Yerry Mina could have scored a couple of goals.

Seamus Coleman had a good game and it is good to see him playing well again. Lucas Digne was given a tough afternoon and got caught out a few times by Riyad Mahrez.

We now have a big game at Burnley this week and we need to win to get away from the bottom of the table and move towards the top half. I don’t agree that we need to replace our manager – chopping and changing every season does not work.

Burnley will make it tough for us – but we can get the three points.

Phil Harris, Northwich

When I heard Andre Gomes was injured I felt we would lose the City game and that’s how it turned out.

The winning run at the end of last season where we beat three of the top six at home was based on the Gomes and Idrissa Gana Gueye holding midfield partnership.

This partnership stopped teams getting at our defence and enable the attackers to flourish. Losing Gueye has had a massively negative effect on the team.

The  team is crying out for a leader and midfield general although Fabian Delph did quite well against City. A prolific goalscorer is also a necessity come January.

Also, Gylfi Sigurdsson is not worth his place on current form.
