The coronation TV schedule: What time does coverage start and how long is it on for?

The Coronation of King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen Consort will take place today [Saturday, May 6] at Westminster Abbey. The ceremony will start at 11am but not before The King's Procession, which will see their Majesties travel from Buckingham Palace, accompanied by The Sovereign's Escort of the Household Cavalry.

Television coverage of the historic event will air on BBC, ITV, and Sky, but with so much going on those watching at home may be wondering what is being covered by who, when the broadcasts will begin, and what they can expect.

Coverage of the coronation will start as early as 6am on ITV with a Good Morning Britain special. The episode will see presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard present from Westminster Abbey ahead of the service with Ranvir Singh speaking to guests as they arrive. At 8:30am GMB will end and Julie Etchingham and Tom Bradby will present the build-up to the event from a special studio outside Buckingham Palace.

At 10:45am the presenters will continue to present live coverage and then again at 1pm as the King and Queen depart Westminster Abbey. ITV's broadcast ends at 3pm.

Coverage begins with The Coronation of HM The King: The Preparation and is followed by coverage of The Coronation of HM The King: The Coronation from 10.15am. The Coronation of HM The King: The Celebration will air from 1pm. These programmes will be broadcast on both BBC One and BBC Two with sign language available on BBC Two.

Welsh presenter Huw Edwards will provide commentary as the doors of Westminster Abbey open to greet those arriving for the ceremony as Sophie Raworth, Clare Balding, Anita Rani and JJ Chalmers also contribute to the day's coverage. You can read more on this here. BBC's coverage will also end at 3pm.

Sky will also cover the coronation with a special programme with Kay Burley frmo Westminster Abbey at 6am. Coronation coverage will then air from 9am all the way through until 3pm with Anna Botting and Kay at the helm.
