How The Chase stars worked out who new recruit was before they were told

The Chase's stars guessed who the new recruit would be before they were told.

The Mirror exclusively revealed that former contestant Darragh Ennis has been recruited for a new position as a chaser.

But Paul Sinha said he had worked out who would be taking the job with the help of his fellow chasers Mark Labbett and Anne Hegarty.

The Chase star claimed he had a hunch it would be Darragh as the Irish hunk was the "best player" he had ever faced.

Paul publicly welcomed Darragh to The Chase stage on Twitter.

He wrote: "The night before they producers told us, Anne and Mark and I sat at dinner and pondered, 'Could it be a former contestant?'.

"I said, 'If it is, the best player I faced was an Irish guy who looked a bit like Micky Flanagan'. Welcome to the club mate."

It comes hours after the news Darragh would be joining the brainy squad.

The former contestant shared his excitement on social media as he said he couldn't wait for his episodes to air on television.

He said: "I'm really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase. I've been working hard on this for a while now and can't wait for my episodes to air. Well the ones I win anyway."

He will be the latest recruit after X Factor's Jenny Ryan signed up to the task in 2015.

A show source told The Mirror: “Darragh has got what it takes to be a Chaser, he has been put to the test and passed with flying colours.

“They don't bring in new members on The Chase regularly so this is a big deal for the show and Darragh. Viewers will be very interested to see how he gets on.

“The show is so popular with spin off shows now as well so there is a need to increase the team. No one is leaving, Darragh is very much an addition to the team.”
