The Chase contestant shuts down Anne Hegerty's brutal insult about Bradley Walsh

Anne Hegarty was silenced by a contestant of The Chase after she made a dig at host Bradley Walsh.

ITV show presenter Bradley introduced four new contestants onto the show, including John, Adrian, Scarlett and Jo, who were all in for a chance of winning thousands of pounds.

Anne also known as The Governess, was on top form as usual as she teased players and Bradley alike, reports Daily Star.

But second to face the chaser Irishman Adrian wasn't having any of it as he stuck up for Bradley when Anne took a dig at him.

Before heading into the cash builder round Adrian spoke warmly of the golfing hobby he and his son bond over and his hopes of spending his winnings when he flies home to Donegal.

Adrian managed to secure a healthy £4,000 in round one, before he went on to take on Anne.

And as the chaser does in every episode, Anne made a witty joke, but this time is was based on Adrian's knowledge of sport.

Referring to poor Brad, she said: "Hello Adrian. If you want to know what my handicap is, you’re standing next to him."

But Bradley admitted that he 'didn't get' her swipe at him.

Contestant Adrian was quick to defend him as he shut down her insult, saying: "That's not very nice."

The school teacher managed to defeat Anne in the head-to-head round after he opted to stick with the £4,000 offer.

He said: "Four is a golfing number anyway."

He made it back to the team, increasing the total winnings to £11,000.

Next up was linguistics student Scarlett who matched Adrian's efforts with a £4,000 win, but unfortunately failed to make it back home.

And last but not least was Jo who earned a whopping £6,000.

The final round looked promising for the three contestants as they successfully secured 20 points between their money and the Chaser, taking them one step closer to splitting the £17,000.
