The Celtic 'players choice' for next manager as Scott Allan makes dressing room claim

Former Celtic midfielder Scott Allan believes interim boss John Kennedy will be the players choice for the next permanent boss.

Kennedy was handed the reins on a temporary basis following Neil Lennon 's resignation, an is unbeaten so far with a win over Aberdeen and the stalemate with Dundee United.

That point at Tannadice handed Rangers a 20-point lead in the Premiership and ensured Steven Gerrard's side were crowded champions.

However, Hibs midfielder Allan, who played under assistant boss Kennedy during his four-year stint at Parkhead, believes Kennedy will have learned a lot from this season.

Having worked alongside Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers, Allan believes the 37-year-old will have picked up plenty of good habits.

Allan told Superscoreboard that the current crop of talent at Celtic will want to see Kennedy handed the job beyond the end of the season.

He said: "I had a really good relationship with John Kennedy.

"He was one that when Brendan Rodgers first came in he took to him really quickly.

"He had quite a lot of say in what Brendan Rodgers done and as the years went on he started to take more and more training.

"I think it’s a hard one because he’s been put with some of the problems that have been there this season and toward the end of last season as well, so it’s a difficult one.

"He knows the club, he wants to play the right way, and he’ll of learned from Neil Lennon, and see some of the mistakes he has made and some of the good things that Brendan Rodgers has done.

"He’s obviously worked his way right through the age groups at Celtic after his career ending injury.

"I think if you were to ask the players there is probably a lot of them that would be for John Kennedy."
