The Burnley and Huddersfield target who Brentford hope could be their next big thing

Brentford have made a name for themselves purchasing young, undervalued talent and nurturing it at Griffin Park.

We've seen it with numerous stars including Chris Mepham, Adam Forshaw, Jota, Scott Hogan and Andre Gray who have carved out a career with the Bees before securing a big-money move elsewhere.

It's a business model which is fruitful and sustainable.

There's no doubting that the summer transfer window will see Thomas Frank's side enter the market once again for high potential talent, and according to reports, they may have picked their first target.

Edinburgh Live have reported that the Bees are chasing Hibs defender Kane O'Connor.

The 18-year-old centre-back is out of contract at the end of the season and is widely expected to move on with significant interest from south of the border.

O'Connor is reportedly on trial with Premier League side Burnley who re keen to make a move, while recently-relegated Huddersfield Town are also thought to be keen.

The defender is yet to make a senior appearance for Hibs, and it could be the case that a move for the Bees would be his best chance of stepping up to first team level

Brentford 3-3 Derby talking points: Rico Henry's return, penalty claims and Frank Lampard reacts

Brentford have a history of handing opportunities to their young stars, with opportunities more likely to be forthcoming at Griffin Park than elsewhere.

Of course Burnley and Huddersfield will provide stern competition for his signature, but if the Bees can convince the youngster to sign then they'll be delighted to sign a player who perfectly fits the profile of what the club is based on.
