The Block’s Britt & Taz Call Out Sonny & Alicia’s ‘Strategic’ Vote Against Extra Work Time

In a scathing tea spill, The Block‘s Britt and Taz have slammed their fellow competitors, Sonny and Alicia, after they voted against extending working hours earlier this week.

With auction day looming, The Block 2025 teams are working themselves to the bone to perfect their houses. Usually, in previous seasons of the beloved home-renovation show, teams were able to work extra hours to get things done. However, in a 2025 twist, everyone must agree on extending work time if necessary.

Unfortunately, on Tuesday night’s episode, Sonny and Alicia decided to vote against extra time in a move that’s been described as “strategic” by their fellow castmates.

“I haven’t won a room yet. There’s one more room to win, if the four of you don’t finish, I might finally win one,” Sonny told the group, revealing why they voted against the extended time.

Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle, fellow 2025 contestants Britt and Taz have called out the Queensland couple, stating that they never wanted to play the game in a way that would “drag other teams down”.

“We never played the game in a way like, let’s drag other teams down so we can win,” Taz told the publication, before Britt added, “If we’re going to win, we want to win on our own merits, not by bringing other people down”.

Alongside their spicy comments, the couple also dished that other teams felt some kind of way about Sonny and Alicia’s cheeky gameplay, stating that they’re not the only ones who are passionate about what they’re building on the show.

Han and Can also said the same thing; they don’t want to win by doing this, they want to win by doing the right thing,” Taz continued.

“And look, last week, those two hours were the difference between us finishing our waterproofing and potentially getting our bathroom together and not.

“So this week, I think we were doing okay, but we still would never refuse extra hours, because everyone’s flat out. I think even [Sonny and Alicia’s tilers] the Cursio brothers said it themselves, ‘We’d have more hours, why didn’t you say yes? We could use it as well’. But yeah, it is what it is.”

YEOUCH.

This isn’t the first time Sonny and Alicia have landed themselves in hot water with their fellow competitors. A couple of episodes prior, the pair were at the centre of a scandal when Britt accused them “[cheating] the system”, with whispers they funnelled budget money back into their rooms. According to insiders, the fallout behind the scenes was brutal.

“For a lot of the other teams, that crossed the line completely,” one production source told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

Insiders also claimed that Sonny and Alicia are ready to risk friendships for that Block glory. Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle, Britt claims that she’s “civil” with the couple, despite their questionable moves.

“I think we’re all civil,” Britt told the publication.

“We’re all adults at the end of the day, and we all understand we’re representing Channel Nine and we’re representing The Block.

“It’s not like previous years, where people couldn’t be in the same room. It’s not like that. This year’s a little bit different in that sense. We’re all civil.”
