The bizarre plan for prize money on The Chase that got fans talking

One contestant's plans for the prize money on The Chase got people talking on Friday afternoon.

As the popular ITV quiz show returned to our screens for another installment, host Bradley Walsh welcomed a new team of four contestants to take on the chaser.

The cheeky presenter, 60, was eager to see them get through to the final against Anne "The Governess" Hegerty with some money in-hand.

Simon, Angela, Karen and Ben all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Governess in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

But it was contestant Simon's plans for the money if they were successful at beating the chaser that had viewers scratching their heads.

Simon told Bradley that he would spend his prize money on a "life-size Tardis for the garden."

Taking to Twitter, one fan ranted: "A Tardis? Grow up man you're an adult." Another viewer posted: "If he wins he wants a full size Tardis. God give me strength."

A third penned: "A full size Tardis?" A fourth joked: Tardis in the garden = blue shed."

But at least one was on Simon's side - with one fan posting: "Nowt wrong with having a #TARDIS in your back garden lol, I'd have one."

Anne couldn't help but take a swipe at host Bradley as the Doctor Who conversation continued

The quiz champion joked: "I like Doctor Who but his companion is a bit dim." Bradley played Graham O'Brien, the friend of Doctor Who, in the BBC One sci-fi drama for two years.

The TV star has since waved goodbye to his character after working with Jodie Whittaker as Doctor Who, reports the Daily Star.

The bizarre plans for prize money winning continued as contestant Angela told Bradley she planned to spend any winnings on a vintage scarf.

Karen also shared her plans to use the prize money to build a wooden shed at the bottom of her garden.

And Ben was planning to head off to Ibiza with ten of his mates - but host Bradley Walsh wasn't too familiar with the music he was into.

Simon and Karen made it through to the final chase with £12,000 up for grabs.

Despite putting in a great effort, Anne caught the pair with 42 seconds remaining, leaving Karen and Simon to go home empty-handed.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
